Shelley has been teaching English for over nine years. She has taught ESOL classes at EDENZ for a range of levels from Elementary to Advanced and has also been involved in NZCEL curriculum development, moderation and teaching. She currently teaches our IELTS preparation class. In the TESOL department she is an, assessor for TESOL certificate and diploma courses, as well as a research mentor for TESOL diploma students. Shelley taught in Japan on the JET Programme in 2007 for one year and returned to Japan again in 2011 to teach for a further three years on the programme. While in Japan she taught at primary, junior high and senior high schools, as well as at a language school for pre-school children. Shelley enjoys the rewarding and challenging nature of teaching English and likes learning about other cultures. Her Masters study involved research on, the use of technology and authentic materials in the classroom, as well as leadership in English language schools. In her free-time Shelley enjoys going to boxing fitness classes and going to see live bands play.
