Description

The New Zealand Diploma in Business (Level 5) (NZDB5) provides students with a broad range of knowledge and skills crucial to successfully operating in the New Zealand business environment.

OVERVIEW OF CORE COURSES

There are two core courses that must be studied as part of the New Zealand Diploma in Business (Level 5). Students are required to do an additional two elective courses with a specialisation in a “strand.”

INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION & ORGANISATIONAL BEHAVIOUR

  • In Intercultural Communication, students are equipped with an understanding of the role of culture and communication in business and gain an applied understanding of cross-cultural communication in a business context.
  • In Organisational Behaviour, students learn and apply their understanding of attitudes and behaviours of individuals, groups and teams in organisations and how to effectively manage these stakeholders and how to lead these organisations effectively.

NEW ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT & SMALL BUSINESS

The aim of this course is to introduce learners to concepts and processes for new enterprise or small business development.

OVERVIEW OF ELECTIVE COURSES 

Students are required to choose a strand. Strands are offered according to the college schedule.

  • ACCOUNTING

ACCOUNTING FOR DECISION MAKING & SMALL BUSINESS

The aim of this course is for students to be able in analyse financial statements and reports for small entities and make recommendations based on budgets and taxation requirements.

ACCOUNTING PRINCIPLES & PRACTICES

The aim of this course is for students to process financial transactions and prepare financial statements and cash budgets for entities.

  • ADMINISTRATION & TECHNOLOGY

TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT

The aim of this course is for students to analyse a technology system, recommend a way forward and lead and manage the change.

FUNDAMENTALS OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT

The aim of this course is for students to develop a project management plan and manage a community project through to its completion.

  • LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT

LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT

The aim of this course is for students to analyse an organisational issue, recommend a way forward and lead and manage the change.

FUNDAMENTALS OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT

The aim of this course is for students to develop a project management plan and manage a community project through to its completion.

  • PROJECT MANAGEMENT

PROJECT MANAGEMENT TOOLS AND METHODOLOGIES

The aim of this course is for students to examine PRINCE2, Agile and PMBoK methodologies and apply a wide range project management tools and techniques.

FUNDAMENTALS OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT

The aim of this course is for students to develop a project management plan and manage a community project through to its completion.

• IELTS Academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5.0, NZCEL Level 4 or equivalent.
