What was your biggest fear before coming to the NZ Film Academy? Did it come true, and if not, what happened instead?
I didn’t really have any fears, as I had a chance to discuss all the details before the course with the school staff who were helpful and answered all my questions.
What, specifically, has been your favourite part of your experience at NZ Film Academy so far, and why?
I enjoyed the creative freedom that came with each assignment. That freedom was backed up by a strong theoretical foundation, and our lecturers provided us with good direction for our creative ideas. Small classes allowed for a lot of one-to-one time with the tutors who were always available to help.
The one thing I enjoyed the most though is the family-like environment at the college and the hospitality of its staff and students.
In what way do you think your education from NZ Film Academy will help you in the real world and your career?
After speaking to a few industry professionals, I found that NZFA has established a positive reputation and that its alumni are sought after. I think that studying here has taught me a lot about teamwork and has provided the skills required by the film industry. I hope that these skills will help me on my way to large studio productions.
