EDENZ is a NZQA approved Category 1 education provider with eight academies: Business, Digital Media, English, Film, Health, Ministry, TESOL and Technology. Offering several popular degree programmes, EDENZ supports and nurtures a vibrant research culture.
Our focus is on bringing together researchers from different disciplines to work on research and development projects with societal impact and synergistic with EDENZ’s values of Wisdom, Passion, Connectedness and Heart.
Our Research, Ethics, Supervision and Publications (RESP) Committee, chaired by Professor Colin Gibbs and comprising members of EDENZ staff, meets regularly to set the overall direction. RESP also considers and approve policies and procedures related to research. Two subcommittees deal with ethics applications and funding allocations.
In May 2017, Ganeshan Kathiravelu, Head of NZ Technology Academy, was appointed to the role of Research Manager, with overall responsibility for research within EDENZ.
The EDENZ Research Centre shares three laboratories (including the Robotics and IoT lab) with the Technology Academy. Staff and students meet in the EDENZ Research Centre, to report on progress, brainstorm, come up with project and collaboration ideas, challenge each other’s ideas, mentor, experiment, analyse, research and write. Fridays are usually the busiest days in the three rooms used by the Research Centre. Every Friday, two 3-minute research presentations are also held at 11:00 am, after morning tea.
A Quarterly Research Magazine produced at EDENZ showcases research conducted at EDENZ and related activities.
A series of Briefing Papers are being produced. These Briefing Papers, as well as all other publications produced by EDENZ, and its staff members and students are made available online (full papers, only when we own the copyright) via the EDENZ Research Bank.
The EDENZ Research Bank is an online repository of all EDENZ staff and student publications as well as innovative ideas, current projects, opportunities for collaboration. We welcome, and actively seek, collaboration with people all over the world. Email Ganeshan at [email protected].
